A NUMBER of young riders from the Tavistock Wheelers took part in the gruelling 65 mile 'Moor to Sea' Sportive last week. Pride of place went to Rob Waddy who won the U18s King of The Mountains award at Haytor — one of the iconic hills used in the Tour of Britain — and was presented with a polka dotted shirt to commemorate his performance. His time for the complete course was the fastest for an under 18 rider and he achieved a gold medal with a time of 3 hours 43 minutes. Stanley Barker also achieved the gold medal time (4 hours 11 mins) while Joe Edmunds broke the five hour barrier to win a silver medal. The club is delighted with the way many of its young riders are developing and by the effort they put into training.
