THE first Active Village Games is taking place in Tavistock on Sunday, July 15.

The Lions' Fun in the Meadows, is part of Tavistock Carnival week, and this year includes sporting challenges and taster sports sessions by Active Villages coaches.

Teams of seven to ten people (mixed men and women) are invited to join in the fun by competing against each other in the sports of tag rugby, penalty shoot outs, boule, tug of war and relay races.

All clubs, pubs and friendship groups are welcome to enter and there is no entry fee. The winning team will receive a trophy.

As well as the games there are free taster sessions being offered in kwik cricket, football, rounders and hockey. The fun starts at 12 noon, with the games taking place from 2pm.
