PEOPLE are being invited to join volunteer conservation officer Jacky Pearce for 'Dowsing for Beginners' at Burrator at the end of the month.

Visitors will not only try to find water, but find out what type of water, be it drinking or stream, how far underground it is and, if there was a pond, what type of fish were in it.

Participants will be finding more than just water though.

Jacky will teach them the questions to ask so they can find even their car again after walking on the moors, although she recommends using a map and compass or GPS.

Jacky is a firm believer in dowsing and said: 'After just one session, you'll be amazed at what you can find and how it works. You just need to know how to phrase your question to find the right answer.'

Participants should bring a metal coat hanger, plastic coated is fine, and they will cut and shape it into dowsing rods. People who already have dowsing rods or crystals, are welcome to bring them too.

The event will take place on Sunday, September 29, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, meeting at Burrator Lodge Yard car park. The event costs £3 per person.
