THE Tidy Tavi group is back after the Christmas period and planning its next litter pick.
A spokesperson for the group said: ‘It is apparent that litter accumulating around Tavistock over the Christmas holidays has blocked drains in some places, causing local flooding during the recent torrential rain.
‘This underlines the practical as well as aesthetic importance of assisting the local authorities in their work of keeping the town clean and tidy. Why not make a slightly belated New Year’s resolution to join this worthy cause and help out in your community? If you’d like to meet some like-minded residents and make a real difference then please come to the Meadowlands Leisure Centre at 10am (Saturday, January 9).
‘There will inevitably be a fair amount of seasonal detritus to deal with, so a good turnout would be very much appreciated. Everything you need will be provided there, but stout gloves and footwear are recommended. Hope- fully waterproof clothing will not be needed!’
The organisers of Tidy Tavi said they would also like to wish all volunteers — past, present and potential a very happy New Year.
