POLICE have said the theft of fuel is becoming an issue as prices continue to rise — with both vehicles and free standing tanks being vulnerable. This announcement comes after 2,500 litres of fuel were stolen from a tank at Crapstone over the weekend. The tank was sited inside an open fronted barn, and police say this theft was well considered as 2,500 litres would have required some time to steal and storage had to have been well organised in advance. Sgt Dave Anning, of Tavistock Police, added that a car parked in the car park at New Park in Horrabridge had its fuel pipe cut. He said: 'The thief/thieves weren't well organised as a quantity of the fuel was left to run onto the road. 'This is not only extremely dangerous in the event of someone discarding a cigarette, but potentially a real environmental hazard. Any information to PC Dave Pickles please.' l An oil tank at the rear of a house in Whitchurch was punctured between Wednesday May 28 to Saturday, May 31 presumably for the purpose of stealing the oil. PCSO Kevin Williams would like to hear from anyone who may know anything on this incident. The number to call is 08452 777444.
