CURRENT and past members of the Tavistock National Women’s Register met recently for a farewell barbecue for one of their longest standing members, Caroline Jenks of Whitchurch.

Caroline joined the Tavistock NWR group, part of the national network of NWR groups, as a young mother approximately 28 years ago after moving to Tavistock.

During this time, Caroline has played a full and active part in the Tavistock NWR group, taking on the different roles of programme planner, local organiser and chair.

Caroline thanked everyone for their friendship and said how important the group had been to her when first moving to a new area where she knew no-one and was eager to make new friends and meet ‘like minded people for life discussion’, the original motto of NWR.

Caroline and husband Anthony are retiring to Buckinghamshire to be nearer family and as keen gardeners were presented with a garden voucher from the NWR group.
