POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for information after the theft of cash from an Indian takeaway in the town, as reported in the Times last week.
The offence took place at Curry Nights in West Street on Friday, September 23 sometime between 9.50pm and 10pm.
Police are now investigating the burglary and appealing for anyone who saw the men at or near the premises or witnessed any suspicious activity in the West Street area to get in contact.
A 35-year-old man from Gunnislake has been arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal and has been released on bail until October 26.
Waish Miah, on behalf of Curry Nights, said they were overwhelmed with the support shown following the article last week, which detailed how businesses worked together to restrain one of the thieves.
He said: ‘We want to thank everyone for all the support we have received and all the people who phoned us in sympathy. It shows that this kind of support is needed in a small town like this one and it shows we have great community spirit.
‘We want to encourage everyone to keep a watch out for each other.’
Anyone who has information which could assist with the investigation is asked to contact police by phone on 101 or by email on [email protected], quoting crime reference number CR/067636/16.
