TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman took part in two cycling races and a triathlon in one week with great success in all three.
The first event was the Tavistock Wheelers 10 mile time trial. This race saw Pete cycling at great speed on the dual carriageway near Okehampton. Pete recorded a personal best on the course with a time of 25 minutes and 35 seconds and was presented with the prize for first juvenile.
The following evening Pete took part in the Okehampton cycling time trials on the Lewdown course. Pete shattered the 30 minute barrier to gain another PB.
Finally on the Saturday Pete travelled to Charlestown, near St Austell, to take part in their annual triathlon. This was the first event of the Charlestown Regatta Week, and it seemed like the whole village had come to support the event. The triathlon began with a mass swim in the sea, followed by a four mile cycle ride to Porthpean village and back, and finished with a two mile run on a hill course. Pete completed the triathlon in a time of 36.21 finishing fourth overall and first in the under 16 age group. Pete, 15, a student at Tavistock College, trains with Tavistock Wheelers and Okehampton Cycle Club.
