COTEHELE Quay's Gig Club's U16s and U14s took part in their respective Cornish Pilot Gig championships at Newquay and Hayle and did extremely well.

The U14s raced three times and finished 12th out of 26 crews — a great result as there were some relatively new rowers in the crew.

The U16s had a very successful day's racing at Newquay. They rowed four races in total and got through to the final. In the second race they managed to knock an impressive 43 seconds off their previous time — a superb effort considering the unfamiliar rowing conditions.

They came second in this heat putting them through to the semi finals, where they came third and secured a place in the final as the fastest losers. They were delighted with their final position of sixth overall out of 20 crews.

Both events were well attended by other members and the club is very proud of the achievements of their young rowers.
