TAVISTOCK Athletic Club juniors went to Dawlish on Sunday and competed in their two competitions of the season for indoor sportshall.

Twenty eight children ventured up to Dawlish to take part in county championships and they came back with 23 medals and two club records. One of these was acheived by Joel Wheeler, who broke a 20 year-old record in vertical jump and the other one was Hayden James, breaking a two year-old record in soft javelin.

The children work hard during the week at training, and to go to a competition and to come away with so many medals it shows how hard they train. Joel’s smashing of a 20 year-old record is particularly impressive; he has been at the club for a few months and this was only his second sportshall event.
