THERE were some surprise spectators at Belstone Cricket ground last Sunday, but they were not watching the game against Barnstaple. Local cricket player Chris Walpole said: 'Our captain came out of the toilets saying he'd been dive-bombed by birds. I thought it might be swallows as they are often around but when I had a look, I found four baby pied wagtails sitting in their nest above the washbasin, waiting to be fed. 'The adults must have got in a small gap between the corrugated iron roof and the wall to build the nest. Now we're going to leave the door open so they can come and go a bit more easily.'
