DURING three days of competition at the City of Plymouth Champion-ships, which took place at the Plymouth Life Centre, 31 swimmers competed for Tavistock Swimming Club.

Representing Tavistock in the gala were a number of younger swimmers and also some older swimmers who have just started competing in galas. They swam a total of 212 events, with every swimmer achieving at least one personal best time – while some achieved personal best times in every event that they competed in .

Overall, they gained 47 top three positions, and reached two championship finals.

Cameron McGurk finished fourth in the 100m freestyle, and Kieran Rookes, who finished a close second in the 100m breaststroke.

First places, in their respective age groups, were achieved by James Anderson (200m fly and 1,500m freestyle), Harriet Edwards (200m breaststroke and 800m freestyle), Alex Francis (400m IM), Chloe Marks (200m backstroke), Cameron McGurk (200m backstroke), Kieran Rookes (100m breaststroke), Izzy Teague (400m freestyle) and Sarah Teague (50m breaststroke).

Also competing were Gemma Arundel, Emily Attfield, Gavin Ball, Ben Bowles, Jessica Bowles, Samuel Cade, Jessamy Clemens, James Close, Emily and Jake France, Amber Francis, Thanae Garland-Tsirka, Flora Germon, Ryan Lillyman, Ellena McCall, Rosie Milburn, Daisy and George Morgan, Ieuan Noakes, Nathaniel Rookes, Luke Stephens, Bethany and Harry Thompson. Well done to these swimmers on their achievements.
