TAKING part in the New York Marathon last weekend and wearing her club vest with pride, was Bere Alston Trekker, Natasha Ayres.

The 26.2 mile course travels through all five New York boroughs. The starting line was in Staten Island and participants ran through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx before crossing the finish line in Central Park.

As runners wound through the various neighborhoods, they passed an average of five different bands every mile, playing everything from jazz to reggae to rock n’ roll.

Following months of training with her husband Steve who ran with her, Natasha achieved her life’s dream of visiting the Big Apple. Running the marathon was an added bonus as Natasha has only been running for 18 months.  Both runners also secured a place in the parade of nations to carry the Union Jack at the opening ceremony.

Sprinting to the finish line to run under five hours is a massive achievement and the rest of the club, family and friends are very proud of Team Bat New York Marathon 2015 — official time 4 hours 58 minutes 58 seconds.
