BERE Alston Trekkers (Bats) competed in four different venues to put all their hard training to the test last weekend.
The first event was the Bristol Half Marathon. The course is a point-to-point loop, so lead runners do not lap slower participants.
There were three Bats taking part in this event, Mike and Heather Smith were running the event for the first time. Janice Fuller last ran the event in 1998 and returned this year to run a personal best.
The next event was the Truro Half where the two Bats taking part were running the event for the first time. It is not a course that is likely to give a half marathon personal best, however it is undoubtedly one to count as a personal challenge that includes some beautiful scenic sections and a whole lot of fun! Both Bats ran great times.
Two Bats took part in the Dornafield Ladies 10k. This is a great race which attracts runners from all over the South West, well done to Mel and Ali.
Further up country Pam and Dave Adams once again took part in the Great North Run. A big well done to Pam and Dave for making the journey to wear their Bats vests at this great event.
Lots of Bats were also taking part in training runs over the weekend ranging between 10 and 26+ miles with some starting at 4am. A big well done has to be said to Nathan Newton who ran the marathon distance in 3.27 after running 14 miles the day before as part of his back-to-back training for his 100 mile event in October.
