TAVISTOCK Athletic Club is hosting the final track and field athletics event of a three part series tomorrow evening (September 13) at Tavistock College.

Inspired by a wonderful summer of sport and in response to the demand for membership to their ranks the club are inviting people of all ages from 8 upwards to come and have a go at a cross section of events in a friendly competition.

The timetable for Friday includes a mix of the athletic disciplines: sprinting, middle distance, jumping and throwing. The younger age athletes will race across 75 and 600 metres while the older entrants can do 100 and 800 metres. The jumping events will be long and triple jump and the throwers will be throwing the discus (or vortex howler for the U11s). To round the evening off there will be a one mile race for all age groups.

Although the competition will feature existing athletes from Tavistock and other local clubs this is very much an open meeting and newcomers of every age above 8 are welcome to come and have a go. Doors open at 5 pm with competition starting at 6 pm.
