St Austell ladies seconds 1
Tavistock ladies 8
DESPITE the icy conditions Tavistock were on the attack from the first whistle and opened the scoring within the first six minutes with Alice Toynton converted a strong ball in from Laura Armstrong.
St Austell were strong on the counter-attack with pace and power through their central players but this was held up by Mills-Hicks, Evans and Boulle in defence for Tavistock.
The visitors continued to pressure the home side and more goals came from superb open play and passing through the midfield from McClumpha to the attack. Law and Gasper both found the back of the net and another goal came from a powerful cross in from Emma White to Laura Langsford, who sliced the ball in on the left post.
With the score at 4-0 at half time and the icy rain now coming in sideways the pace of the match did not slow.
St Austell moved the ball around and penetrated the Tavistock defensive line on several occasions but with strong saves from keeper Viggars Tavistock remained on top.
A penalty corner awarded to the away side was converted with a bullet like strike from Tavistock's captain Laura Armstrong.
St Austell put one consolation goal past Viggars following several fast passes and a strong strike in. Tavistock were quickly on the attack again, which saw Toynton complete her hat-trick and Hannah Colston chip the ball in following a one on one with the keeper.
