FIVE swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club joined other swimmers from the Tavistock area complete the Swimathon 5,000m challenge on Sunday at Meadowlands Pool.

The swimmers – Gareth Williams, James Anderson, Harriet Edwards, Elizabeth Teague and Chris Anderson - swam the 5km as a relay, completing the distance in 1 hour and 12 minutes.

Esther Rookes, on behalf of the club, said: 'They aim to raise more than £200 for the Marie Curie charity and are already well on the way to this total – all contributions very welcome for this worthwhile cause.'
