Tavistock CFC Ladies 5

Brixham Villa 2

THE heavens opened as Tavistock kicked offºº against Brixham Villa.

However, the rain did not have much of an effect in either team as both started with fast paced passing and quick link up play. Tavistock were first to break the deadlock after a throw in by Tania Coker, which was quickly flicked on by Donna Hone and Sarah Martin was there to guide the ball  past the keeper. Tavistock scored again when Sarah Blowey showed some great individual skill, manoueuvering past two defenders on the edge of the box and firing the ball through the keeper's legs to make it 2-0. Villa fought back with some good play leading to an opportunity in Tavistock's six yard box which was met by a powerful villa boot.

Tavistock won a corner and Robyn Hammond delivered a great ball into the box which was met by the cool head of Tavistock player of the match Donna Hone to guide the ball into the net. A corner on the other side meant Hammond asked the question again and Hone answered in the same fashion to make it 4-1.

A Villa player was brought down on the edge of Tavistock's box and a looping free kick found the head of a Villa player and the ball crept into the bottom corner.

Tavistock keeper Zoe Stock initiated some quick, skilful play on the wing from Kirsty Jones, who cut inside the Villa defence and fired the ball over the keeper's head. Some committed challenges from Laura Phillip and sweeping play from Carleigh Bammens helped tidy up Tavistock's defence.
