OPM ladies 2

Tavistock ladies seconds 2

ON a warm sunny morning Tavistock Hockey Club ladies second team were away to Old Plymouth Mannameadians.

As with their game the previous week Tavistock began strongly and made a confident start.

The visitors continued to apply pressure which resulted in a succession of short corners but, unfortunately for Tavistock, the forwards were unable to convert these into goals.  The few chances OPM had in the first half were thwarted by a strong Tavistock defence in Issy Hicks, Katie Burchell and player of the match Ella Woolcock. A good run and some superb stick work finally saw a goal for Tavistock’s Josie Francis.

After play resumed OPM came out on the attack but Tavistock were working just as hard as in the first half but this time it was in defence not attack.  However, OPM equalised! The restart saw a quick break and a goal by Lois Thornton had Tavistock back in the lead. With OPM applying more and more pressure and a rare dip in concentration by the visitors, the home side equalised.

This was a disappointing draw for the Tavistock ladies but they can feel proud with their energetic and skilful play.
