PETER Walters-Fox was named student of the month by the Tavistock based South West Kickboxing Academy and Martial Arts club.

The club meet in the gym at Tavistock Community Sports Centre.

Most improved student of the year was won by Nathan Pollard, who himself is now helping out in classes, and who has started competing in the ring.

Nathan was narrowly beaten to student of the year by his sister Courtney Pollard, who is the club’s youngest student.

Head coach Steve Lilley, fourth dan, said: ‘Her infectious enthusiasm, her training and to her will to always work hard in class is fantastic. She’s always ready for class hours before training and practices hard at home with her older brothers.’

‘All students have worked very hard and made great progress and on the last session of the year we like to draw attention to those who have made great progress.’

He also thanked his coaching team of second dan Chris Morgan and first dan Matt Lake for their hard work and support.
