TAVISTOCK Athletic Club members are busy gearing up for the well established Tavy 13 Half Marathon. The race, hosted by the club, will take place on Sunday, March 24, with sponsorship provided by Gibbs Kirby, Tavistock's newest estate agents.

It starts at Tavistock College and will take runners on a scenic tour of the town, through leafy lanes and pretty villages, cycle tracks and hills before back into Tavistock for a final lap of the athletics track. All proceeds will go towards the athletics track.

Sunday, March 24 will also see the conclusion of the Tavy 13 Primary Challenge, when local children will complete the final mile of the challenge on the athletics track while the main race is taking place and just to add to the excitement there will be a fun run over one and a half miles where all the members of the family, young and old can join in.

There will be a number of road restrictions to support the runners, notably the closure of Crowndale Road during the event and a minor restriction to Dolvin Road at the start of the race.
