TAVISTOCK'S TATE Budge fought his way to gold in the Taekwon-Do Cornish championships earlier this month where he won the male black belt patterns.

This was followed by more success at the South West of England Championships when he won gold in two categories — 14-17 years and 18-35 years, both in black belt patterns, an impressive achievement as Tate is only 15.

Sandwiched in-between these dates was the Exeter Foundation sports awards where Tate made it as a finalist.

Tate has also now changed Taekwon-do club. He now trains under the guidance of grand master Trevor Nicholls ninth degree in London as well as other ITF  clubs in the South West.

The two May competitions have been a warm up for the tough task of competing in Moldova.

Although in the middle of his GCSEs, Tate is training hard when he can so he can try to add a European title to his growing list of honours.

Tate expressed his thanks to everyone who has supported him.
