ON a sloping pitch at Kingswood RFC North Tawton ladies played up the hill for the first half, starting brightly they moved the ball swiftly out through the backs to Charlotte Cassels playing on the wing.
Further strong running by North Tawton resulted in St Marys OB infringing in the ruck to give away a penalty which Clara Nielson converted.
St Mary's fought back and camped in North Tawton's five metre line. The scrum that followed was won against the head by North Tawton and a kick by Jo McBain was caught by Natasha Quick who ran the ball out of her half setting up an superb move by the backs through the hands for Lottie Trerise to run in the first try, converted by Clara Nielson.
The pitch started to cut up badly and with St Mary's making little headway North Tawton struck again with another strong run by fullback Hayley Hopkins to make the score 15-0 to North Tawton at half time
The second half was a dour affair with strong tackling but an slippy ball saw scrum after scrum. Five minutes before the end however Jo McBain to slipped through for the only points of the half.
