SOME of the Tavistock Tennis Club's round two matches in the Plymouth and District League had to be postponed until the end of the season because of heavy rain last week. The club's Ladies A team were lucky enough to be able to play indoors at Ivybridge.

RESULTS: Division one: Men's A v Ivybridge A (home) Walkover as the visiting team did not turn up. Points 12. Division two: Men's B (Gareth George and Phil Harbottle, Matt Smith and Peter Bradley) v Devonshire B (away) lost 2-6. Pts 7. Division three: Men's C (Ray Hinton and Bernard Mowle, Luke Wakley and Tony Du'Gay) v Mannamead B (home) won 6-2, pts 11. Division four men's D and division six Mens E postponed. Mens F (John Mulley and Dush Shetty, Paul Jackson and Mike Webb) v Hill Lane C (home) won 5-4, pts 7.

Division one – Ladies A (Hilary Picton and Alice Anstey, Sally Quinlan and Alison West) v Ivybridge A (away) lost 8-0, pts 6. Division two: Ladies B (Sue Parsons and Maggie Lilley, Wendy George and Olga Rogers) v Ivybridge B (away) lost 8-1, pts 7. Division three: Juniors Tavistock A v Hill Lane A, won 37-24; v Whitford Road A, lost 22-52. Division four: Juniors Tavistock B v Mannamead, won 53-6.

Devon County closed mixed doubles 45/40 age group. Max and Amanda Goodison won the final 6-0, 6-1. This is the second year running that they have won the final.

In the Veterans Inter County Clubs League, Tavistock (Max Goodison and Gareth George, Phil Harbottle and John White) v Devonshire (home) won 6-4. They will play Clifton in the next round.
