TAVISTOCK Squash Club have three teams in the Plymouth Company Squash League and the first games of the season have been played with mixed results. Team one play in division one, where squash is played to a high standard and includes some of the counties best players.

The opening two matches of the season have ended in one win and one loss. The first game was extremely tough with the team losing 0-5 to one of the best teams in the division, Devonshire one, and despite some battling performances the result was never in doubt. They followed this up with a great 3-2 win over Applied Squash, which gives them hope that they can improve on last season.

Team two play in division two. The team made a great start by beating University two, 3-2 but followed that up against probably the best team in the division, ADS two, going down 1-4.

Team three play in division three and have had a very tough start, playing the two best teams and unfortunately losing 0-5 to both Cifer and Plymouth Life Centre, despite some hard fought matches.

The clubs teams have decided to use the traditional Tavistock sports team’s colours of red and black for future matches and the first set of shirts were handed out to some of the players. Hopefully the new colours will inspire the teams to winning ways.
