Tavistock men’s seconds 2

Sidmouth and Ottery seconds 0

WITH a tough first half of the season out of the way Tavistock men’s second XI were in search of more points in their quest to stay out of the relegation zone.

The game started on a positive note with some high tempo pressing from the Tavistock front three nearly resulting in a goal for the home side through Tom Honey.

With the game being played at a good tempo Tavistock continued to create opportunities, from one of which Ollie Richards pounced on driving the ball into the bottom corner to open up the scoring. Sidmouth and Ottery created their own chances. However, due to Tavistock committing too many players forward in attack, it left themselves open to the counter attack. It was Tavistock that went into the break 1-0 to the good.

The second half saw much the same from Tavistock, good pressing when off the ball and fast flowing hockey when in attack. It did not take long before the home side’s lead was extended through some good combination play in the midfield between Staig and Bott to set up Richards for his brace.

The game was then out of reach for the league leaders and Tavistock picked up the much needed three points.
