THERE was a great turnout of 20 athletes from Tavistock Athletic Club at the 10-mile race at Bideford on Sunday – many looking for their triplet of results (and themed medals) following Bideford’s 10K and half marathon races held earlier in the year.

James Armstrong, TAC’s senior coach, said: ‘Runners enjoyed a welcome break in the weather for the duration of the race, even though they did have to run through calf-deep flood water at one point.  Bideford Amateur Athletic Club should be commended for their immaculate organisation of their race this year.’

Stand out performances from the TAC team, in a field of 832 runners, included Ed Horn, 10th overall in 59 minutes 24 seconds; Allan Herdman, first in his male veteran 65 age group in 1 hour 10 mins and Helen Kula-Przezwanski, second in her female veteran 60 age group in 1.23.47.

Several newer TAC runners experienced their first 10-miler and there were creditable results throughout the field.
