Dart 1

Tavistock 7

WITH Dart rock bottom of the table and Tavistock men pushing for the hockey league title this looked to be a formality even though Tavistock were without regular goalscorer Mark Forshaw, Dave Langton and skipper Tom Honey.

Tavistock went into the half time break with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Ollie Richars and Dom Stanbury with the reds in control of the game which had produced few clear cut chances in front of goal.

The home side made the dream start to the second half when they scored but it only served to motivate Tavistock further, with Ben Hancox, playing his last game for the club, pulling the strings in midfield and with the movement in front of him from Blonden, Richards, Carr and Stanbury it was only a matter of time before the goals started coming.

Richards doubled his goal tally and Stanbury scored a second half hat trick to take his match tally to four.  Si Fenwick converetd from a penalty corner late on to complete the scroing.

The win keeps Tavistock just one point behind Exeter University and North Somerset with just two games left to play.

n Tavistock play their last home game of the season next Saturday when they host North Devon.

Tavistock first 6

Bridgwater 3

THE home side made a lighting quick start when Bob Carr got in behind the away defence to open the scoring inside the first five minutes.

Carr then turned provider as he set up Stanbury to double the lead early on. Tavistock converted from a penalty corner after Forshaw at the top of the D, he cleverly slipped the ball to Hancox who slapped the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0 and from the next corner saw Forshaw execute a trademark drag flick into the roof of the net to score the fourth.

With the half time score 4-1 it looked like it was going to be a comfortable second half for the home side and had the Bridgwater keeper not been in such fine form there could have been a lot more goals scored.

The two goals for the home side in the second half came from skipper Tom Honey and another for Stanbury and were scored either side of two counter attack goals from the visitors.
