TAVISTOCK Ladies first hockey team were at home this week against St Austell who currently sit one place below them in the league table.
From the first whistle Tavistock started strongly and grasped possession of the ball passing through the midfield of Armstrong, Honey, Langsford and Bruna.
The goals started to come for Tavistock with Abi Hall finding the back of the net from a fantastic cross in from Becky Lamb on the right wing. It soon became apparent that Tavistock were going to dominate this match when further goals followed from Laura Armstrong and Laura Langsford.
St Austell were quick on the counter attack and did test the defence of Colston, Mills Hicks and Evans but short sharp passes out of defence insured Tavistock kept a hold of the game. Unfortunately one of the St Austell players went down with a strained ankle injury and with no substitutions, this took the away side down to 10 players. Tavistock used the overlap on players to pass the ball widely through the defence and midfield to wingers Lamb and Martin, with fantastic movement in the attacking D further goals followed leaving Tavistock 6-0 up at half time.
The second half was a lively 35 minutes with penalty corners being awarded to both sides, Tavistock defended well and moved the ball quickly out of danger, keeper Zoe Viggers having to make just one important save of the match to keep a clean sheet. Despite the grit and determination of the St Austell defending and strong tackles from the away side Tavistock did continue to dominate with Gasper, Martin, Armstrong, Hall all scoring great goals for Tavistock to see the final score at 11-0.
n This week Tavistock are away to Bude Seconds.

THE previous week Tavistock Ladies opened the scoring after two minutes with a powerful strike off a penalty corner from captain Laura Armstrong-West.
The second quickly followed by Abi Hall who dummied the keeper to find the back of the net. An unfortunate incident followed as a Camborne SOM's replied soon after as the visitors firmly took the upper hand with three more goals scored by Abi Hall, Becky Lamb and Laura Langsford.
Tavistock passed and moved the ball to leave Camborne SOM's on the back foot and continually attempting to hold the visitors out of the attacking D.
Great movement through the midfield of Colston, Langsford, Armstrong-West and Bruna kept Tavistock in control throughout.
