Southern division two

Tavistock 2

Dart 0

AFTER the Christmas break Tavistock hockey first team were keen to begin the second half of the season in a positive fashion.

During the first half of this home game it was clear that Tavistock was in control, featuring some excellent high-pace passing, with Edwards and Marchant pivotal from the middle.

The ball was also well distributed from Woods across the defensive line to Carr and Hanson who, in turn, delivered the ball on effectively to the left and right midfielders Unwin and S Stanbury.

The combined efforts of Webber, Jourdan and D Stanbury up front was more pressure than the Dart defence could tolerate and Tavistock's first goal came from a conceded penalty flick from Webber.

Tavistock maintained pressure on the Dart side, continuing to restrict their options with some excellent marking.

The second goal resulted from a confident strike from Edwards after a series of short corners.

Determined not to concede more goals, the Dart side increased their work rate from the start of the second half, making several dangerous breaks into home ground while Tavistock struggled to compensate. Fortunately, the home side defence was alert and able to match the opposition's resolve, ultimately succeeding to thwart Dart's counter-attack.

Josh Webber was Tavistock's man of the match.
