PMHC seconds B 1

Tavistock firsts 4

TAVISTOCK’S first game in Conference South saw them up against Marjons 2Bs, both sides having been promoted together last season.

The first half saw very few chances on goal but with just two minutes remaining before the break Tavistock scored the opening goal thanks to midfielder Dom Stanbury.

With Marjons unable to clear from a Tavistock penalty corner Stanbury pounced on the loose ball to give his side the lead at half time.

The second half followed the same pattern as when the sides met two weeks ago in a friendly as Tavistock upped the intensity and forced a number of errors from the home side; a quick fire double from summer signing Sam Blonden effectively put the game beyond the reach of Marjons; his second goal finished a fine move which was started by forward Mark Forshaw.

Player coach Si Fenwick converted from a penalty corner to make the score 4-0 to Tavistock.

The score line was a fair reflection based on the number of chances created by the visitors. Marjons converted from a penalty corner in the final minute of the game but it was too little too late. The win extends Tavistock’s winning streak to 23 consecutive league games.
