THERE was great excitement in Tavistock Golf Club's junior section when the novices won their first every trophy -  the Dartmoor Challenge Trophy. 

The match was played over 13 holes at Yelverton Golf Club where the novices team, captained by Arun Caines,  scored 227 pts to Yelverton's 218 pts.

The mens' club championship was won by Alan Gawman with gross 140.  Runner up James Macfarlane had gross 149 on countback from Adam Bridgewater.  Winner of the nett championship was James Allen with nett 66 and runner up was Will Inman with a nett 71. 

In the Ladies Club Championship Gilly Jarvis had a 3/2 win over Jayne Wright.

In the mens' Stableford Rich Potts in division one had 40 pts on countback from Mike Beveridge.  Third was John Hayward with 37 pts.  In division two Chris Howells scored 38 pts, second Jerry Bawden 36 pts and third was Richard Jones with 35 pts. Dave Treble had a 'par three' day with a hole in one on the fourth and a two on the seventh!

The Elaine Cooper Trophy for players with a 19 handicap or below was played in conjunction with the EWGA medal. 

In the medal competition Sam Avens had nett 75, second Jayne Wright with a nett 76 on countback from Dawn Phillott, third Patty Congo with nett 77. The trophy was won by Jayne on countback from Dawn.
