South division two

Bude 1

TAVISTOCK men's first team were pleased to be back home after three consecutive away losses.

Adam Holland started aggressively by pushing the Cornish rivals deep into their own half.

The team's initial pressure was unrelenting, allowing James Killingbeck to convert a well-worked move down the right to give the hosts the lead. The momentum was slowed by a display of green and yellow cards as the excitement got the better of both teams. Bude defended well throughout and scored just before the half- ime whistle.

Phil Edwards showed his experience for Tavistock by blasting in a short corner and also set up the third, which man of the match Ander Cooley beautifully deflected past the keeper.

A good crowd had gathered to cheer the home side on. The players responded with ten minutes of electric pressure, and Joshua Cowen-d' Arcy created many chances.

However, Bude fought valiantly to the end, threatening Tavistock's goal many times in the last five minutes. If it were not for the solid defence of home keeper Mingo, and the sniping of Carr and George, the result could have been very different.
