Seven students took up the challenge of going for their next level belts. The standard was high, with students taking belts from yellow to first dan black belt. The three and a half hour sessions were designed to test not just the skills and individual techniques of each student, but also their flexibility, concentration, co-ordination and stamina. The level of performance was very high and impressed head coach Steve Lilley.
Nathan Pollard achieved his orange belt, even though he was half the age of the next youngest grader. Brothers Rob and Andy Melville kept pace with each other successfully achieved their purple belts. Richard Steer achieved his green belt, whose hard work and commitment has been impressive this year.
