Teign A 1
Tavistock A 3
AFTER last week’s disappointing result, it was important that Tavistock A performed well and got the right result against table topping Teign.
Tavistock were fielding a strong, youthful side and immediately started to apply pressure on the home defence.
With Willets marshalling the midfield and Orman running the forward line, Tavistock were looking dangerous and creating chances.
It was early in the game when Orman created enough space, following some good interplay, to hammer home the first goal.
The game really was of the end to end type and Teign were always dangerous, but the more mature defensive line of Anning, Stanyer, Gott and MacDougal were always in control. Pugsley in goal — his first match in many months — was immense, and dominated his area.
Although chances were coming for both sides, Tavistock created another opportunity, following some great interplay between Hancox and Donnely, which allowed Orman to hammer in the second.
The tension never let up and Teign continued to attack. However MacDougal covered superbly and cleared a long ball out of defence, which took a deft touch from Willets into the path of Hancox, who slotted in Tavistock’s third.
Teign never gave up and they scored their only goal after some confusion in the defence when Pugsley was instructed to leave a ball that was assumed to have been struck from outside the D.
