South West one
Plympton GSOB B 3
Tavistock A 1
HAVING been crowned hockey league champions for the second consecutive season, Tavistock A men’s team seemed to keep their worst performance for the following week.
Tavistock seemed completely at odds against a highly motivated Plympton Grammar School Old Boys, who were certainly looking for the three points. Whether it was a foot off the proverbial gas, Tavistock were under pressure immediately from the start. With errors mounting and the attacks from the home side relentless, Tavistock conceded a simple goal within the first 10 minutes. This seemed to be the motivation that Tavistock required and they started to put some structured play together.
Taking the opportunity to give some third team players a run out, the Tavistock bench was turning over quickly. James Gregory stood out as a talent to watch and one for the future — looking dangerous taking the ball forward.
Towards the end of the first half, the home side capitalised on some more pressure in the Tavistock D and despite the agility of stand in keeper Bond, slapped in their second.
The second half started with Tavistock playing a better attacking game. Following a reshuffle at the back, Hanson was beginning to dominate the right side and link well with Walker and Barnes.
Midway through the half, Daniels latched into a good pass into the D and slipped the ball to Dee, who hammered in his first goal for the club.
With the game beginning to open up, further chances were coming at either end, but it was the home side that concluded the game with their third.
