Torbay 4

TAVISTOCK A were away to Torbay on Saturday before they hosted Plymouth University on Sunday at Mount Kelly

Torbay started well, capitalising on poor defending to create an easy goal after three minutes. Tavistock kept their heads up however and with the Walker brothers attacking — Josh, Dom and Jake — equalised nine minutes later through Josh.

Torbay took the lead back ten minutes later and it looked as though the sun wouldn’t shine any more for Tavistock, but this time Dom Walker stepped up, forcing home a solid goal on the right post.

Rather than making it easy on themselves, Tavistock allowed Torbay to take the lead again, before equalising through Dave Thomas’s powerful penalty corner strike.

Torbay converted a free hit minutes from the end however and sealed three points.

Tavistock played some good hockey but Torbay were the better side.

PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY 2

PLYMOUTH University attacked Tavistock within a minute of the whistle, but Tavistock countered and Luke Walker joined his brothers on the score sheet for the weekend, converting confusion into a 1-0 lead.

For the umpteenth time this season Tavistock conceded a soft penalty corner goal when the ball bobbled in. Then a confident second penalty corner ten minutes later gave the University a 2-1 lead.

It was left to man-of-the-match Angus Harley to hammer in a shot from the top of the D to draw things level before the whistle. Tavistock should have scored several more goals and may need to move Harley up to the front for their remaining matches.
