Penzance A 3

TAVISTOCK hit the road to the far reaches of Cornwall for this rearranged league match. A fine sunny day welcomed the visitors and the fine weather had positive impact on the game.

Playing some good possession hockey, Tavistock were moving the ball around well and controlling the game. With the midfield dominated by Aveyard and the returning Edwards the ball was sprayed wide to the side channels and eventually young Luke Curno flat sticked his first goal from close range.

Tavistock felt on top of the game but suddenly the tables were turned as the home side struck back immediately following a mix up in the visitors' defence.

Tavistock continued to dominate possession and were creating chances at regular intervals but to no avail. Further defensive confusion led to two more goals from Penzance and Tavistock could see this game slipping away.

After a positive half time talk from captain Aveyard, Tavistock played with a bit more urgency. Continuing the passing game but increasing the tempo created further opportunities.

The speed of Honey and Passmore on either side were creating a lot of problems for the home side and goals soon came through the deft touch of Andrews and the power of Passmore.

With all to play for, both teams started to slug it out for the valuable points. The defensive qualities of Anning and Gott came to the fore and with Osborne bravely saving close range shots, it came to Glanville to save the day to bravely deflected a hard flick over the bar.
