ANOTHER West Devon finalist in the Devon Sports Awards is Tavistock martial artist Tate Budge.
Tate, who trains at the Trenic/Yiewsley Taekwon-do Academy, appears in the list of Community Sports Performer of the Year, the largest of the categories.
In March Tate followed up his world title win at last year’s world championships and his three national titles at the autumn nationals by winning gold in the under 18s third degree black belt patterns, and in the 18 to 35 years third degree black belt patterns.
The best of community sport is to be celebrated at the 20th awards and will take place on June 30 at Sandy Park, the home of Exeter Rugby Club.
It will celebrate diverse sporting contributions and achievements from community level coaching right through to elite sports performers.
The main purpose of the awards is to recognise those who inspire people to participate at all levels in sport.
All finalists will be presented with their trophies and certificates by James Cracknell OBE, British athlete, rowing champion and double Olympic gold medallist.
