TAVISTOCK Athletic Club was delighted to present Adam Holland with a special award at the end of the Dartmoor Discovery Ultra Marathon on Saturday.

Adam, from Tavistock, who had just won the race and completed his 300th marathon, was given honorary lifetime membership of the club.

Club chair Martin Exley-Deane said: ‘The club wanted to recognise not only Adam’s sporting achievements but also his passion for the sport, his goodwill towards other athletes of all ages and abilities, his charity work and his help in encouraging local primary school children with their running.

‘Although Adam has moved to Nottingham now, he’s been a prodigious representative of the club since he joined as a junior in 2000. He competed all over the country in his Tavistock AC vest and he’s always been a credit to the club and to the town.

‘We wanted to say thank you to Adam for all that he has done and we’re delighted to make him an honorary lifetime member.’
