THREE members of Tavistock Athletic Club took part in the Exeter First Chance 10k on a bitterly cold Sunday morning. This race has a reputation for being flat and fast and the three certainly recorded excellent times.

First home was Jim Cole finishing fourth overall in 32minutes 24seconds. This very fast time gives Jim a diamond award in the recently revised club awards scheme which recognises achievement throughout all age categories.

U17 Harrison Baker was next TAC to the finish, in 31st place overall and third in his age category in a time of 37.42, earning him a ruby award.

Pete Bazley was the last of the trio to the finish, in 43.44, gaining a platinum award and finishing fourth in age. He took a minutes longer than in last year's race, but knocked nearly two minutes off his last 10k time, achieved earlier this month.

The club meets on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at Tavistock College, and also on Sunday morning for a longer run starting from different points. Runners of all capabilities are very welcome at any time.
