ON Sunday 13 Tavistock Athletic Club juniors made their way to the Sportshall League event at Dawlish to compete in the Devon County Champion-ships. While this was a smaller turnout than normal they had some great performances and brought home 19 superb, hard earned medals.

In the U15Bs Dan Luckham won two bronze medals whilst in the U13Bs Matthew Jenkins won a silver and Joe Wheeler continued his great run of form, winning three gold medals.

The U11Bs had an excellent showing with Sheldon Higgins picking up two golds and a silver and Nicolas Maczugowski winning a gold and two silvers. For the girls, Bea Kinnear broke a 23 year-old club record to scoop gold in the vertical jump as well as a silver while Sorrel Hickman earned a silver and two bronze. Finally, in the U10Bs both Joe Dobby and Owen Fileman both finished with a silver medal.

Sportshall is a great competition for the juniors to continue developing their athletic skills during the winter months. They have fun with their club friends while chasing personal bests in sprints, jumps and throwing events.

The next Sportshall takes place at the Plymouth Life Centre in January.
