THREE Tavistock athletes — Paul Waldron, Claire and Adrian Pitcher — took part in the Haytor Heller on Saturday.

This is a tough six mile off-road race, not for the faint hearted or inexperienced runner.

This well established run, now in its 31st year starts below Haytor Rock and follows a rugged course, with several steep ascents and descents crossing both woods and open moorland, returning to Haytor Rock with a fast downhill sprint to the finish opposite Haytor Visitor Centre.

After completing the course, made more difficult by the hot and humid conditions runners were rewarded by fine hospitality provided by the organisers, Teignbridge Trotters, with drinks and a barbecue.
