OKEHAMPTON Golf Club's Centenary Festival celebrations continued in fabulous sunshine with the Captain's Day taking place on Saturday.

Members competed for the prestigious Centenary Trophy, a beautiful silver claret jug kindly donated by the Skidmore family.

Centenary captain David Warren presented the trophy to winning golfer Gareth Holt at the prize giving on Saturday evening. The winning lady golfer on the day was Lynda Walker.  All competitors took part in the particularly hot conditions with unbroken sunshine throughout the day.

Winner of division one1 and the Centenary Trophy was Gareth Holt with 43 points on the back nine from, in second Simon Taylor. Richard Reid followed closely behind in third place with 42 pts.

There was a real challenge for first place in division two with the top four players all achieving 40 pts. After countback Trevor Parker was awarded first place followed by Chris Walsh in second with Matt Mills third. Division three was won by Ashley Arscott with 38 points. Derek Wildash was second on 37 pts after countback from in third Stephen Tonge.

The ladies division was also closely contested and after count back first place went to Lynda Walker with Mary Keir second both coming in with 37 points. Penny Deakin was third with 36 pts on the back nine from in fourth Sue Stanbury.
