TAVISTOCK Athletic Club is opening its Saturday morning training sessions on the Track at Tavistock College to all local runners and members of local sports clubs who want to improve their speed endurance and fitness. If you run at 10 minute mile pace or quicker or take part in a sport on a regular basis — this is for you !

The training will consist of repetitions of different distances from 100 metres up to a mile, but usually focussing on 200 metres to 800 metres. Participants will have a recovery period between each repetition, and you will be running with people of a similar standard. A digital watch will be useful so that you can time yourself. Although it is up to people to decide at what pace you run at, these sessions can be strenuous, which is why they are only being opened up to quicker runners and fit members of local clubs.

Full details of the sessions can be found on the club's website http://www.tavistockathletics.com">www.tavistockathletics.com under Training - Coe group. Regular training like this can improve everyone's performance - just ask Mo Farah who does a large number of 200 metre reps. at 26 second pace. Don't worry though - you will not be expected to run that fast !

The sessions start with a warm up at 8.45am and will last about an hour with a cool down and stretching to finish. The charge will be £1 for members of other running clubs, and £2 for everyone else. They will be led by UK Athletics Level 2 Endurance coach Richard Drage.
