'Though we lost 5 and 2 many of the matches were very close', said Tavistock ladies captain Bridget Luckham, 'but we are now looking forward to another successful year in the Still Cup matches.'
The ladies also enjoyed the good weather in the qualifying round of the Ping four ball better ball. The lady captain started her year with a win when she and her partner Bev Ruth scored an excellent 41 points. The runners-up with 38 pts were Dawn Dennis and Roma McMahon.
The top 60 Stableford scores in England will qualify through to the grand final with the next 60 best scores qualifying for the plate final — both to be played at Thornock Golf Club, Gainsborouogh, in Lincolnshire in September.
The monthly medal was played in conjunction with Withington Bowl.
In division one Liz Lyndon won the bowl with a net 75, runner up was Dawn Phillott with a net 78 on countback from Sally Hills. Carolyn Crawford in division two had net 80 on countback from Marion Stenhouse, third Jenny Kay net 81 countback from Julie Harding.
First in the mens' monthly Stableford was Kenny Mackenzie with 40pts, second Graham Ruth on 39 pts on countback from Gary Pumford. In division two Darren Sturman had 36pts, second Julian Collison 35 pts on countback from Jonathan Coe, Tony Westacote and Dave Symons.
Tony Ingram was first in division three with 38pts on countback from Danny Brockington and third with 36pts was Paul Mace.
