WEIR Quay Community Watersports Hub Club hosted the first event at its new site earlier this month.
Members from the sailing club, gig club and locals were invited to come along and enjoy a mug of soup, a burger and look round their future new home to see where the shed will be built and where their boats will be stored.
Around 50 people attended and for many this was the first opportunity they have had to be on site for a really good look around and take in the wonderful views of the River Tamar.
Phase one of the project is now complete and the hub club is shortly moving into phase two — this is when the site modifications will begin creating the facilities making it accessible to all watersports use.
The hub club has received generous donations from members of the local community, members of Weir Quay Sailing club, Tamar and Tavy Gig club, Tamar Valley AONB, West Devon Borough Council, The Dulverton Trust, Devon County Council and Sport England.
