THE Tavistock Specials football team said a big thank you to the Co-op Community fund for its £1,700 sponsorship of the 10th Son Rise Cup.

The local disability squad love playing at the event which will be held over the weekend of May 23, 24 and 25 at Tavistock college and Tavistock AFC.

Representing the Co-operative Group's Community Fund David Stanbury said: 'This is the third successive year we've given a grant to the Son Rise Cup — £6,000 in total.

'All the money has been donated by our generous members. I'm sure they'll agree with me this is a thoroughly worthwhile cause and a tribute to the hard work of Allen Lewis and all his helpers.'
