Chard 4
Okehampton A 3
LIKE Guy Fawkes and his Gunpowder Plot, Okehampton captain Brett Lawson had been planning the downfall of Chard for sometime.
The team welcomed back goalkeeper Hayden Bond from injury. The game started with a bang with early pressure from Chard but it was Okehampton who scored against the run of play via Chris Luxton.
This early goal sparked Okehampton as Ed Howard started to control the midfield. Oke won a short corner which was neatly converted by Ed Howard following a rebounded shot from the skipper. Okehampton soon made it 0-3 when straight from the restart Jacob Lloyd cooly converted.
Unfortunately for the visitors Chard exploded into action and pulled one back.
Oke man of the match Tim Morgan spun the midfield into knots, but failed to ignite his side and Chard converted a second 2-3. A controversial decision when against the visitors as Chard were awarded a penalty flick to make it 3-3.
After a cracking first half the second fizzled out into more of a midfield battle, and with less than 10 minutes to go Chard went a head. 4-3.
Okehampton's first half display was so exciting and intense, it had to be by far the best display yet this season!
However, the game has two halves and they will have to come back next week fighting.
