TIGHT lies and lightening fast greens are presenting Tavistock Golf Club members with a challenge.  

This did not prevent some excellent scoring in  in the Roland Bailey Trophy with Dave and Peggy Burge scoring 45 points on countback from Ken and Sybil Cole — in third place Emmy Hoyte and Will Stenhouse with 44pts.  

There was also good scoring in the ladies monthly Stableford with Hilary Picton coming in with 40 pts in division 1, second Wendy George 38 pts on countback from Belinda McSherry and Shirley Trevena. 

In division two Rosemary Rae had an excellent 44pts, second was Chris Leach with 42 pts on countback from Marion Stenhouse and fourth was Norma Thewlis with 36pts. 

Joy Harrison was first in division three with 39pts on countback from Jill Millichamp, third was Myra Sussex 38pt.

In the qualifying round of  DCLVGA Killard Leavy Trophy Hilary Picton and Teresa Hughes scored 43 pts with runners up Val White and Norma Thewlis scoring 38 pts.  Hilary and Teresa will represent Tavistock lady veterans in the final at Staddon Heights in September. 

Tavistock Junior Novices had excellent wins at Downes Crediton Junior Open.  Played over nine holes Jamie Ninnis won his division with 28 pts and, in fourth place, was Callum Boon with 24 pts.
